Ted Cox, our commercial property expert, likes to say “Good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment”. This is a statement that describes how he came to be the real estate expert he is today.
Ted grew up as the classic baby boomer in a family headed by a father who had a career in the United States Navy. Ted’s family lived in several locations because of his father’s military career and by the time Ted was a student in high school his family had settled in a Northern Virginia suburb outside Washington, D.C.
When he completed his studies for an associates degree from Northern Virginia Community College, Ted and his family moved to Florida. It was here that he enrolled in Stetson University, and upon graduation he received a degree in accounting and finance.
Ted secured his first job as staff accountant for Hawaiian Tropic, the manufacturer of suntan lotion headquartered in Central Florida.
Ted ’s background includesyears of experience in other businesses. They include the video game business, an auto repair business, mobile home park manager, water purification equipment sales, appliance sales, computer sales, even tax return preparation with H & R Block.
Ted says his experience in all of these jobs have contributed to his becoming the Realtor he is today. As one who advocates additional training, Ted, himself, has studied real estate sales courses and successfully completed post education licensing courses to receive his brokers license, and the coveted GRI, Graduate Real Estate Institute, designation.
