De Land, a
bedroom community of Orlando, is a cultural treasure because one
of the finest private universities in the nation is located in
the city. The University offers lectures and interesting art exhibits
throughout the year. Residents of the area as well as students
at the university attend many of the university sponsored events.

and canoeing are available. See the Manatees in Blue Springs or
boat over to Hontoon Island to see a cypress swamp on the St.
Johns River. You can visit and explore the early settler's history
at DeLeon Springs State Park where you can griddle your own pancakes
at The Old Spanish Sugar Mill or paddle a canoe through the wilderness.
